What’s the difference between buying and leasing my solar system?

At Element Energy Systems (E2SYS), we provide several ways to transition to green energy. If you choose to purchase your system, we utilize various private financing tools to make ownership possible. Once your loan term concludes, the system is yours. Alternatively, leasing enables you to bypass upfront equipment and installation costs. Leasers pay a fixed monthly amount for the electricity generated by their new solar system. This option is widely accessible – NY State Solar’s program requires no credit checks or income requirements and guarantees fixed monthly payments that won’t increase over time.

If I’m not interested in purchasing my solar system, does Element Energy Systems (E2SYS) offer a leasing option?

Yes, indeed. If your solar system fails to produce enough electricity to meet your daily requirements, the public grid will compensate for your usage. During these periods, your net consumption is positive, and your utility bill will reflect charges for the utilized kilowatt-hours. Any residual banked energy credits will be applied at these times.

Can my system function at night or during winter?

The custom solar system from Element Energy Systems (E2SYS) will generate electricity during daylight. However, on cloudy days or at night, your system won’t produce power. During these periods, the public energy grid will supply power. This is where “net metering” and your household’s “energy credits” come into play, helping offset less productive solar energy periods.

Will my system operate during a power outage?

Your system will only function during a power outage if you’ve installed a suitable battery system. As per New York state law, grid-connected solar systems without battery systems will shut down for safety during a power outage.

Does Element Energy Systems (E2SYS) handle all necessary permits?

Absolutely! We regularly liaise with local governments across Long Island and keep you updated throughout each step of the approval process.

Will I still receive an electricity bill?

Yes. Even with solar, households must pay their utility’s grid connection fees and a small customer benefit charge. However, your electricity costs will likely be significantly lower based on your system’s monthly production. Once your system is paid off, you will still need to pay the minor grid connection fee and, in rare cases, any excess energy used beyond your system’s capabilities.

Does transitioning to solar affect my property values?

A: Yes, transitioning to solar can increase your property values. As of 2021, buyers are willing to pay 4.1% more for a solar-powered home, with the added value in New York reaching up to an additional $23,989

Why do you require my address?

Providing us with your address allows Element Energy Systems (E2SYS) to assess factors like your home’s solar exposure and shading, which determine if going solar is suitable for your home. The more we know about your home, the more accurate our energy saving models and preliminary system designs will be.

What is a net meter?

A net meter is an electric meter that records the flow of electricity in two directions – both the power consumed by a home or business, and the power they feed back to the grid..

What is “Net Metering”?

Net metering is a billing mechanism that credits solar system owners for the electricity they add to the grid. When your solar panels send surplus power to the public power grid, you can offset the cost of power drawn from the utility. Net metering is applied when your solar panels produce more electricity than you use, sending this energy back to the grid. You can then use these energy credits when the sun isn’t shining as bright, or during winter’s shorter days.

What are “offsetting” credits?

When your solar system generates more power than your household requires, the surplus energyis transferred to the electric grid. You can acquire “credits” for this surplus power to be used against future periods when you draw from the electric grid.

Do I need a new roof before installing solar?

Not necessarily – most homeowners we work with do not need to replace their roof before going solar. If your roof is relatively new, Element Energy Systems (E2SYS) will inspect your home to ensure that we can safely and securely install your custom system.

Is it possible to get solar with no upfront payment?

Yes, indeed! Most qualified Element Energy Systems (E2SYS) clients opt for solar with no upfront payment. This option is provided by certain recommended lenders to qualified homeowners, so please reach out to us for additional information.

Can I install solar panels if my yard has many trees?

Yes, but it depends on your roof’s exposure and the areas where the trees cast their shade. Not every home is suitable for solar due to exposure, but our Program Manager at Element Energy Systems (E2SYS) can guide you through your home’s solar potential.

Can I power my entire house with solar?

Absolutely, many of our clients power their entire household with their solar system! While individual system capacity and household energy usage vary, it is possible to entirely offset your home’s energy usage with solar production. Any surplus energy you produce will be sold to the public utility grid in exchange for energy credits, which can offset less productive days.

Can I install solar panels on only a part of my roof?

Yes, of course! We design custom photovoltaic systems for our clients to maximize energy generation and yield. If you prefer to concentrate your system on a specific part of your home, we can certainly accommodate that.

Can I install them in my backyard instead of my roof?

Yes, as long as your local municipality permits solar panels. Local regulations vary regarding accessory structures, so please contact the team at Element Energy Systems (E2SYS) for more information.

How long is my warranty period?

Element Energy Systems (E2SYS) uses top-tier panels and inverters, which typically include industry-leading warranties that cover parts and labor for part replacements. You can discuss the details of your individual product’s warranties with your Element Energy Systems (E2SYS) Program Manager.
