Internship Spotlights
Here are what some of our interns had to say.
Jaclyn Klaus is a senior Chemical Engineering undergraduate at the University of Notre Dame. One of the many projects Jaclyn was responsible for was the advancement of our online data monitoring system in which our customers have the ability to monitor their renewable energy units via the internet. After completing the internship program at E2sys, Jaclyn said, "I am looking for a career in the energy field... I'd prefer not to work for a big oil company." Jaclyn was one of 13 other college students who took part in the first internship program offered by Eastern Energy Systems this past summer.
In his interview with Suffolk Times, Sam Itin commented, "I was allowed to venture beyond just being told what to do... and the experience will remain priceless going forward." Sam dedicated countless extra hours into a movement he beleives in. He was able to both disect the hydrogen fuel industry and construct a minature hydrogen car. Sam is a Philosophy and Political Science undergraduate at Binghamton University and was responsible for maintaining and upgrading the online advertising campaign as well as researching the validity of new renewable technologies during his internship at E2sys.
While juggling another full-time internship with the Department of Transportation and conducting side research for her Cornell University professor working with the Department of Energy, Jessica Bloom created the Windy Island campaign in which she launched her own website in order to promote the incorporation of wind power on Long Island. "I was inspired by the team's enthusiasm about wind energy and the lack of permitting on Long Island..." said Jessica. She became a major player in the fight to change town wind codes and continues to expand the Windy Island campaign while she attends Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Dan Goodwin took on an apprenticeship with the E2sys installations team, "I wanted to stay ahead of the curve and gain this experience so that I will be much more competitive in the job market." After completing a residential geothermal installation along with multiple solar PV installs this past summer, Dan entered his senior year at Western New England College with the kind of experience anyone wanting to enter the renewable energy field dreams of. "I was viewed as an equal, which is not something most intern's experience." Dan is persuing a career in mechanical engineering and after his internship at E2sys hopes to continue working in the renewable energy field.
